Rachael Daisy “Bluemountain Daisy”

Rachel Daisy “Bluemountain Daisy”

About Rachael

I have always been interested in colour and design from delving into various crafts as a child, working as a florist for 20 years and then discovering patchwork and quilting 10 years ago.  since then I have been passionate about all things quilt related.  My quilts have been honoured with many awards, including Best in Show/Best in NSW at the Sydney Quilt Show 2016 for my Whizz Bang! quilt featuring the folded fabric blocks.  I have also received Best in Show in 2015 and then again in 2016 at the Australian Modern Quilt Show for other quilts.  Many of my quilts have been published in magazines and books both nationally and internationally.  Words often used to describe my style are whimsical, creative and happy.  Whilst honouring the tradition of quilting I like to find fresh ways and try new techniques to interpret conventional designs.  I use a lot of 3D elements in my work such as yo-yos, prairie points, wool felt, appliquéd denim, doilies and trims.

WHIZZ BANG! WORKSHOP – 2 DAY

In Rachael’s two day Whizz Bang! workshop participants will learn 4 different ways of making the folded point blocks that feature in my Whizz Bang!, Merry Whizz and other folded fabric quilts.  Along the way she will offer lots of tips and suggestions for varying the blocks for different results.  This allows the participants to be creative with their blocks rather than following a strict pattern.  The techniques taught are suitable for beginners to learn but also wonderful for more experienced sewers who would like to try something different

Class size will be no bigger than 12 students, lunch, morning and afternoon tea is included in the class cost.  Come along and enjoy making something different.

Both Days Saturday 4th and Sunday 5th August 10 to 4pm
Class Cost: = $180.00
Venue: Cotton Rose
